ISS Prime Rating
In 2024, Adient was awarded Prime Status by Institutional Shareholder Servies (ISS), a company that provides sustainability ratings and services to corporations around the world. Prime Status is awarded to companies with sustainability performance above their sector-specific Prime threshold, which means that they fulfill ambitious absolute performance requirements. The corporate ratings score analyzes companies based on more than 100 sector-specific sustainability factors.

Carbon Disclosure Project
To help enhance innovation and efficiency, and foster stakeholder engagement, since 2021, Adient has proudly supported the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). CDP is a not-for-profit organization responsible for the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts. We complete CDP’s detailed climate change, forests and water security questionnaire each year disclosing key data, initiatives and progress for each topic.

Environmental Stewardship
We are committed to environmental responsibility in sourcing, manufacturing and resource consumption. We support customers’ sustainability goals with products that have recycled content, lower carbon footprints and innovative materials. Our approach minimizes material, energy and water usage, embedding sustainability into our core processes.
We are committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius and proudly support the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).
Our goal is to rely on 100% renewable electricity at our manufacturing sites globally by 2035, and we aspire to reach carbon neutrality at our manufacturing sites for scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.

Climate Change
Our scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions-reduction targets align with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). SBTi validated our near-term targets — a 75% reduction in absolute scope 1 and 2 emissions at our manufacturing sites by 2030 and a 35% reduction in scope 3 emissions by 2030 — in 2022. Since 2019, we have reduced our global scope 1 and 2 absolute CO2e emissions 38% (within SBTi boundaries).

Supply Chain Emissions
Our scope 3 emissions account for 95.5% of our total greenhouse gas emissions. We aim to reduce scope 3 emissions by 35% by 2030 (using 2019 as our base year) by working with suppliers to ensure environmentally responsible operations. In 2024, we achieved a 4% year-over-year reduction and will continue focusing on high-emission commodities.

Sustainable Operations
We are committed to reducing scope 1 and 2 CO₂e emissions from our manufacturing processes and energy consumption. In 2024, we analyzed dependencies, impacts, risks, and opportunities to prioritize ecologically sensitive sites. By 2030, we aim to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by 75% and achieve 100% renewable electricity by 2035 at our manufacturing sites. As of September 2024, 29% of our electricity is from renewable sources.

Air Quality
Air pollution threatens human health and accelerates climate change. We aim to reduce air pollutants like volatile organic compounds, nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, and particulate matter. We monitor air pollution data at over 175 sites. Initiatives include reducing process-related pollutants, using filters, and enhancing energy efficiency to lower emissions and waste.

Sustainable Product Design
In fiscal year 2024, Adient led the way in sustainable product design, focusing on reducing carbon footprints, enhancing product circularity, and meeting sustainability demands. We developed lightweight, high-quality seating solutions using less material and energy. Through our Evolution of Seating Systems Sustainability (ES³) approach, we are committed to working closely with our supply chain and other key partners to drive significant environmental improvements and achieve our emissions-reduction goals.

Forests and Water Management
We prioritize conserving natural resources like water and forests to ensure biodiversity and mitigate climate change. Our water policy includes monitoring regional water stress and improving water management. Our Deforestation Commitment acknowledges the vital role forests play. In 2024, we enhanced water data accuracy and engaged with suppliers to increase sustainable materials, aligning with global environmental standards. Waste Reduction and Handling
We aim to reduce, reuse, recycle, and renew materials to minimize waste and our carbon footprint. Our Waste Policy governs waste tracking and reduction efforts. We monitor waste KPIs, conduct continuous improvement projects, and use an internal data-management platform. Through our ES³ approach, we incorporate recycled content into products, promoting a circular economy and reducing environmental impact.

Chemicals Management
Proper handling of chemicals is vital for safety and environmental protection. We use the International Material Data System (IMDS) to manage hazardous substances and comply with regulations. Our processes include regular screenings, audits, and supplier data submissions. We monitor global legislation and work to phase out hazardous substances, reduce PFAS, and meet recycled content requirements, ensuring compliance and sustainability.

Governance and Compliance
We are committed to operating our business ethically and in accordance with Adient’s policies, as well as applicable laws and regulations. Our Ethics Policy sets the standard for our operations and provides the ethical framework for our organization.
Adient’s governance framework ensures robust oversight and management of sustainability activities, with the executive team and sustainability steering committee playing pivotal roles. This committee, which includes senior executives such as the President and CEO, CFO, and regional Executive Vice Presidents, meets quarterly to review key sustainability initiatives, activities, and disclosures.
The Board of Directors oversees an enterprise-wide approach to risk management, ensuring that management frameworks and processes are adequate and functioning as designed. The board’s corporate governance committee oversees Adient’s sustainability strategies, initiatives, policies, and public disclosures, including the annual sustainability report.
Additionally, our 2024 Sustainability Report follows the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) international standard for sustainability reporting as well as the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards for impact reporting.

Ethics and Integrity
Adient’s Ethics Policy — available in 26 languages — is our foundational document. It provides important guidance to its employees, suppliers and business partners on Adient’s commitment to conduct its business ethically, and for all of its employees and business partners to act in a manner consistent with that commitment. Additionally, we encourage anyone with an ethics-related concern to report them via our 24-hour Integrity Helpline.

We do not tolerate any form of bribery within our business dealings and actively oppose corruption within our business. In addition to our Ethics Policy, our Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Standard, Global Supplier Standards Manual, Terms and Conditions, and other compliance program elements (including training) provide detailed guidance regarding how to conduct business with integrity and make decisions that are legal, ethical and responsible.

In August 2024, Adient created a new global Center of Excellence (COE) addressing supplier compliance and supplier risk management. We updated our Global Supplier Standards Manual in late 2024 to reflect revised requirements for our suppliers.
