Adient receives Supplier of the Year and Overdrive awards from General Motors
Adient received tremendous recognition from our customer General Motors (GM) when the company was awarded not one but two awards at the recent GM Supplier of the Year ceremony.
Adient was honored as a 2023 GM Supplier of the Year for the third consecutive year – a very significant accomplishment. Adient has received the Supplier of the Year recognition from GM more than a dozen times. The Supplier of the Year award recognizes distinguished global suppliers that exceed GM’s requirements, in turn providing GM customers with innovative technologies and among the highest quality in the automotive industry.
In addition, Adient received an Overdrive award from GM. The Overdrive award was first presented in 2012 and is a distinction reserved for suppliers who display outstanding achievement across the Global Purchasing and Supply Chain organization’s key priorities, which include sustainability, innovation, relationships, total enterprise cost, launch excellence and safety.
“The Adient teams wishes to thank our partners at General Motors for this honor. To be recognized a third year in a row with the Supplier of the Year award is a testament to how well our teams work together to deliver excellent results,” said Jim Conklin, president of Adient Americas.
Adient’s relationship with General Motors dates to 1987 when our former parent company, Johnson Controls, bought Hoover Universal. In 1998, Detroit-based Bridgewater Interiors was formed as a joint venture between Epsilon Technologies and Johnson Controls to manufacture automotive seating systems for GM. Its initial five-year GM contract was the largest an automaker had ever awarded a minority-owned business.
“Thank you to General Motors for nominating Adient as Supplier of the Year. This honor shows the successful relationship built by our collective teams. We look forward to continuing this partnership for years to come!”, said Brooke Belville, vice president GM Sales for Adient. Congratulations and thank you to the GM Business Unit and the many plants and employees supporting our customer GM.
